East Bengal now finds itself in a position where they need to win as many matches as possible to end their ISL campaign with a flourish. Mathematically, they are still in the running for the playoffs, but if either NorthEast United FC or Mumbai City FC wins another match, their dream may become a distant memory. The Torchbearers can aim for as high as eighth place in the standings and would aim for it in the coming match on Wednesday. However, they will need to be especially sharp against the unpredictable and attacking-minded Hyderabad FC.

The Red and Gold will need to defend stoutly to deny their opponents clear chances while taking their own when offered, just like they did with that recent victory over Punjab FC. The win would soothe their confidence before the AFC Challenge League, while the opposite would feed into their woes.

Hyderabad FC must win all their remaining matches to stand a chance of securing anything in the top 10. This leaves them with absolutely nothing to fear playing against East Bengal FC. The Nawabs will put the Torchbearers under pressure with rapid counterattacks, hoping to expose their defensive frailties.

However, if chances come, Hyderabad FC's players must be effervescent and ruthless, as East Bengal is unlikely to give too many. A draw or a loss would not matter for Hyderabad FC's campaign, but a win would create a feel-good factor for their promising younger players and help set a foundation for next season.
